Anaesthesia is the practise of administering medications by injection or inhalation (breathing in) that block the feeling of pain and other sensations, or produce a reversible state of unconsciousness. This helps eliminates all sensations, allowing medical and surgical procedures to be performed without causing undue distress or discomfort within the homeostatic limits of the patient.
